“Khayyam” Ring and Necklace
Master architect Hooshang Seyhoun, designer of Omar Khayyam’s mausoleum, wrote:
> “Khayyam, in fact, has three identities — mathematician, astronomer, and poet — all of which must be reflected in the monument.”
The circular base of the structure was divided into ten parts, symbolizing the first double-digit number —
the foundation of numerical harmony.
From each base rise two diagonal blades, spiraling upward and intersecting to form a lattice through which the blue sky of Nishapur can be seen.
At the top shines a five-pointed star, representing Khayyam’s mastery of science and astronomy.
In creating this set, I sought to translate every architectural element of the mausoleum into wearable art —
the geometry, the upward motion, and the balance between intellect and soul.
And because Khayyam was not only a scholar but a poet of life and time,
I engraved one of his verses across the two pieces:
> This caravan of life — how swiftly it passes!
Seize the moment, with joy, as it passes!
A gentle reminder of the fleeting nature of time and the beauty of living fully in the present moment.
